# New Media Audience and Creator Exploration Guide

Prepared by LunarCrush for Robin and the New Media Inc. team.

## What this pack is

This is a helpful starting map for exploring creators around client audiences on X. It is a partner resource that the team can expand and tune over time.

For each client, the pack combines two LunarCrush building blocks:

1. A **custom audience collection** made from up to ten focused search terms.
2. A **stack of related tracked topics** that expands the view into adjacent communities and many more creators.

The collection is the focused lens. The related topics are the discovery layer.

Anyone with these links can explore the live topic pages. The account that created a collection owns and edits its internal term definition. If New Media wants editable copies, recreate them under Robin's own LunarCrush account using the workflow below.

Use these topic pages to see additional creators, posts, engagement, sentiment, and time series. A broad topic can be noisy on its own. Its value comes from combining several relevant topics and looking for creator overlap.

Do not treat a ranking as an endorsement. Flag broad-topic noise, direct competitors, politics, or brand-safety questions for human review.

Keep API keys private. Do not paste a key into a shared prompt or document.

## How custom collections work

A collection is a saved multi-term search that behaves like a LunarCrush topic. It has a topic page, posts, creators, sentiment, engagement, and history.

Each collection supports up to ten terms. A term can include:

- `term`: the main word or phrase
- `includes`: words that must also appear
- `excludes`: words that reject the post

Example:

The important sequence is:

1. Probe candidate terms with `/api4/public/searches/search?term=...`
2. Preview the whole configuration with `search_json`
3. Create it with `/api4/public/searches/create`
4. Verify `/api4/public/topic/<slug>/v1` returns the same slug
5. Share `https://lunarcrush.com/topic/<slug>`
6. Recheck the collection after its first backfill cycle

Use the topic URL, not an account-scoped collections page.

## How to rank creators without shrinking the universe

Do not start with one exact keyword and stop at its top 100 posts. That is only one small discovery lane.

Instead:

1. Pull the focused custom collection.
2. Pull creator rankings from every connected topic.
3. Merge by X handle.
4. Preserve every source topic for each creator.
5. Rank by focused-collection membership, multi-topic overlap, engagement, reach, and current momentum.
6. Keep at least 50 visible candidates per client.
7. Link back to every source topic so the team can continue beyond the displayed 50.

## Reading the metrics correctly

- Active Posts are posts receiving activity in the current rolling window. They are not necessarily newly published posts.
- Active Creators are unique creators in that topic's current rolling window.
- Cross-topic totals can overlap because one post or creator can belong to several related topics.
- Do not sum daily active creator counts to claim a unique historical total.
- Missing data is unknown, not zero.
- A creator ranking is a discovery signal. Read the creator's recent posts before treating the account as a partnership fit.

## What Builder adds

Builder time series helps distinguish a one-day spike from sustained or accelerating attention. Use the same period and bucket for every creator or topic comparison. Six months of daily history is a useful default for a strategic audience map.

The best output is not one static shortlist. It is a focused collection, a connected topic map, and enough creator links for the team to keep learning.
